Building Bridges for Ukraine

Bridges for Ukraine highlights the key role of entrepreneurial partnerships in reconstructing a post-conflict Ukraine. As part of the roundtable series, Henrietta met with Ukrainian MPs, UK business leaders, and policy-makers to explore how British businesses can work collaboratively with Ukraine to build long-term, inclusive prosperity.

The White Paper puts forward think pieces from a number of leaders including the Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko as well Minister Gareth Thomas MP from the UK Department for Business and Trade, digital infrastructure pioneer Martha Lane Fox CBE and the Director of the new V&A East, Dr. Gus Casely-Hayford OBE. Aligning with their expertise, they explain what they believe reconstruction efforts need to achieve in their respective sectors, the challenges to be addressed along the way, and how cutting-edge ideas can inform successful delivery.

Southwark Land Commission

In 2023, Henrietta joined the Southwark Land Commission. Southwark Land Commission is the first commission of its kind in London, and only the second in England. It brought together a panel of experts, community groups and major landowners. Together they worked to free up more of Southwark's land, for the benefit of local people. The Commission considered current land use across Southwark and for more potential opportunities. It aimed to help change how we all think about land use in the city for evermore. The Land for Good: 2023 Southwark Land Commission report puts forward wide-ranging and ambitious proposals for land use in the Southwark Council, read the report here.

Henrietta brought much insight and expertise to the panel, drawing particularly on the work of the Prosperity Index which measures what matters to the prosperity of local communities & identifies strategies for local action to improve overall wellbeing.

The Commission was led by Southwark Council, with support from local organisations PRD, We Made That, and PMV planning. It was chaired by Dr Miatta Fahnbulleh, Chief Executive of the New Economics Foundation.
